Tenor Zach Borichevsky has been hailed as "a talent to keep an ear on" with a "secure, full-bodied tenor." He recently debuted with Boston Lyric Opera as Nathanaël in Les contes d'Hoffmann after a summer engagement as a Young American Artist with Glimmerglass Opera. There, he portrayed Antonio and covered Luzio in the first North American staging of Wagner'sDas Liebesverbot.
In May 2008, Mr. Borichevsky received a Master of Music degree from the Yale School of Music, which augmented his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and Political Science from The George Washington University. During his time at Yale, he appeared as Rodolfo in La bohème, Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus, and Gonzalve in L'heure espagnole. In the summer of 2007, he performed as Sergei in Moscow, Cheryomushki and Orpheé in Orpheé aux enfers with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Giuseppe Verdi in Milan. His Italian performance experience also includes the role of Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi, sung in Salerno and Amalfi. During his undergraduate years in Washington, DC, Zach performed as Larry/Matt in The Face on the Barroom Floor, Kaspar in Amahl and the Night Visitors, and Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi.
Concert credits include Uriel in Haydn's Die Schöpfung, Brahms' Liebeslieder Waltzer, Bach's Magnificat, Stravinsky's Mass, and Brahms' Zigeunerlieder, which he performed at the Kennedy Center and in Argentina and Uruguay. In January 2008, Mr. Borichevsky received the John Moriarty Encouragement Award as a New England Region finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. He was also a finalist in the National Symphony Orchestra Young Soloists' Competition in 2006.
This summer, Mr. Borichevsky will join the Opera Theatre of St. Louis as a Gerdine Young Artist singing in Salome and The Ghosts of Versailles, and covering Rodolfo in La bohème.
