Soprano Holly Cameron’s recent performance of the role Abigail Williams (The Crucible) won great critical acclaim with her “rip roaring high notes” (Boston Globe) and portrayal as a “marvelous femme fatale whose considerable vocal resources carried her without strain over the greatest dramatic climaxes of the opera” (The Boston Musical Intelligencer). Other operatic roles include the Dew Fairy (Hänsel und Gretel) Suor Genovieffa (Suor Angelica), The Fire and The Nightingale (L’enfant et les sortileges), Laetitia (The Old Maid and the Thief) and Queen of the Night (The Magic Flute).

On the concert stage Ms. Cameron, proclaimed by the Worcester Telegram as a “superb soloist who unfurled pure golden tones and was bell-clear in articulation”, has appeared as a soloist in works such as Carmina Burana, Brahms’ Requiem, Bach’s B minor mass, Poulenc’s Gloria, Mozart’s Requiem, Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass, Bach’s St. John’s Passion, and Zelenka’s Magnificat. In addition, Ms. Cameron recently performed in the Casals Festival with Boston Baroque in San Juan , Puerto Rico and in Bermuda with the Copley Singers. Upcoming performances include the role of Mrs. Nordtrom in A Little Night Music with Boston Opera Collaborative and the soprano solos in Carmina Burana and Mozart’s Requiem with New World Chorale and Claflin Symphony Orchestra.

 

A recipient of numerous honors, Ms. Cameron was a 2009 semi-finalist in both the Palm Beach Opera Competition and the Peter Elvins Competition. In 2008 she was awarded the Verdi Award in the National Orpheus Vocal Competition. Ms. Cameron was a regional finalist in the NATSAA competition and has won both 1st and 2nd place awards at Boston NATS. She was also the grand prize Pathinder Award winner in West Palm Beach , FL. Ms. Cameron is a graduate of New England Conservatory where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Voice Performance and studied with Mark St. Laurent. She currently studies with Penelope Bitzas.
