Michael Weyandt Audio of 2010 Concert Audition
Baritone
New England Finalist, 2010

Described by Opera News online as a voice “luxuriously rich” and “piquant in color,” baritone Michael Weyandt was recently seen as Masetto in the Tanglewood Music Center’s production of Don Giovanni, under the baton of James Levine. He has previously sung Guglielmo in Così fan tutte at Tanglewood, again with Maestro Levine, in addition to numerous baritone roles at Indiana University, where he received his Master’s degree. An advocate of contemporary music, he has previously appeared in New York City at the Miller Theater, as Pete Dayton in the U.S. premiere of Olga Neuwirth’s opera Lost Highway, based on the David Lynch film, and at Merkin Hall as the soloist in a staged performance of Davies’ Eight Songs for a Mad King. In addition, he has performed with the Des Moines Metro Opera’s Apprentice Artist program, and the Lyric Opera of Cleveland. During a leave of absence from his Master’s degree studies, he spent two years living and teaching in rural China, Shanxi province. He received his bachelor’s degree in Voice and Composition from Oberlin Conservatory in 2005.
