2010 New England Regional Judge
Jeffrey Rink is Music Director of the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra. March through May of 2009 marked a busy period for Mr. Rink as he led a performances of Bach’s Mass in B Minor in Tokyo’s Suntory Hall, collaborated with soprano Barbara Kilduff with the Charleston (SC) Symphony and conducted Puccini’s Turandot in Boston’s Jordan Hall. In 2002 he conducted a sold out performance of Chinese and Western music in Carnegie Hall. Mr. Rink conducted performances of Die Zauberflöte at the New National Theatre Tokyo and his performance of La Bohème at the University Maryland was described in the Washington Post as “is about as good as any "Bohème" you are likely to see this side of the Metropolitan Opera or Covent Garden”. Mr. Rink recently concluded his eighteen-year tenure as Music Director of the Chorus pro Musica, and thirteen-year tenure as Music Director of the Newton Symphony Orchestra. While living in Boston he was also Director of Orchestral Activities at the Longy School, and is currently celebrating his fourteenth season as Music Director of Concert Opera Boston with whom he had led critically acclaimed performances of opera in Concert Version since 1995 including the 2006 Boston premiere of Verdi’s Attila. In September 2006 Mr. Rink conducted the Tokyo Philharmonic in an all-Berlioz program featuring the recently-discovered Messe Solonnelle.
