Leticia Brewer
New England Second Place Winner, 2006

An alumna of McGill University, soprano Leticia Brewer appeared with Opera McGill as Polissena in Handel’s Radamisto, Elettra in Mozart’s Idomeneo, and Marguerite in Harry Somers’ Louis Riel. She was also the soprano soloist in the Dvorak “Requiem,” Mahler’s “Das Klagende Lied,” and Brahms’ “German Requiem” with the McGill Symphony Orchestra. From 2006-2008 Leticia was a Young Artist of l'Atelier lyrique at L'Opéra de Montréal, where she sang Miss Benson in Lakmé and the title role in Il Segreto di Susanna. During those years, she was also Liu in the Vienna Volksoper's production of Turandot and Mimì in La bohème as a Young Artist at the Music Academy of the West, encoring the role in concert with the National Arts Center Orchestra. Other roles included Soleà in Manuel Penella’s El Gato Montés for Toronto's Opera in Concert, Ariadne in Ariadne auf Naxos with Toronto’s Summer Opera Lyric Theatre, and the Second Lady in The Magic Flute at the Banff Centre for the Arts. With Musica Camerata di Montreal Leticia took on the title role in Wolf-Ferrari’s Il segreto di Susanna and Lisetta in Haydn’s Il mondo della luna.


Leticia’s concert appearances have included Wagner's “Wesendonck Lieder” and Mahler's “Rueckert Lieder” with Montreal’s Orchestre Leonardo da Vinci, Mahler’s Fourth Symphony with the Montreal Civic Orchestra, and Britten’s “War Requiem” with the McGill Symphony Orchestra. In 2009 Leticia joined Pacific Opera Victoria's Resident Artist Program and made her mainstage debut as the Second Lady in Die Zauberflöte.


A laureate in the 2007 Montreal International Music Competition, Ms. Brewer has also received awards from the Marilyn Horne Foundation and Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyrique, and grants from the Canada Council for the Arts and the Jacqueline Desmarais Foundation.
