Abigail Dock
Mezzo soprano
New England Encouragement Award 2014

Abigail Dock is currently a Resident Artist with Portland Opera, where she will sing Olga in Eugene Onegin and Third Lady in Die Zauberflöte in 2016. The mezzo also takes on the role of Count Orlofsky in the OperaBend (OR) prooduction of Die Fledermaus. In December 2015, the mezzo returns to the the Boston Conservatory as the Minsk Woman in Jonathan Dove’s Flight.

 

A native of Medford, Oregon, Abigail received a Bachelor of Music in Vocal  Performance degree from Rice University and her Masters in Opera Performance from The Boston Conservatory, where she appeared as Isabella in L'Italiana in Algeri, Baba the Turk in The Rake’s Progress, and the Third Lady in Die Zauberflöte, and covered the title role in The Rape of Lucretia. In summers the mezzo has taken part in the Emerging Artists Programs at OperaWorks in Northridge, California (2011), at the Seagle Music Colony in Schroon Lake, New York ( 2012 and 2013), and at the Caramoor Festival (2014), singing the Page in Rigolettoand covering the role of Orsini in Lucrezia Borgia. Abigail also sang the title role in La Cenerentola in Caramoor’s Bel Canto Showcase.

 

In addition to her New England Award, Abigail has received Met Auditions Encouragement Awards from the Oregon (2015) and Connecticut (2014) districts.  In 2014 she also won Third Place in the Art Song/Oratorio Division and was a Finalist in the Opera Division at the American Prize Awards in Danbury.
