Sondra Kelly continues as co-director of the Coaching Divas in Boston and an Adjunct Instructor of the Voice Faculty of New Jersey City University; this spring the mezzo will also teach classes and scenes for New England Opera Intensive, a training program for singers specifically designed for opera performance. Last summer she was Stage Director of Cambridge Summer Opera’s Young Artists Program.

 

Sondra’s professional career began at the Metropolitan Opera, where she appeared in more that 250 performances of 23 different roles ranging from Mozart to Wagner. In 1993 she made her European debut as Ulrica in a new production of Un Ballo in Maschera at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Subsequent debuts included the Grand Théâtre de Genève, the Opéra de Lausanne, the Bregenz Festspiel, Hennessy Opera throughout Japan, China and Vietnam. She has also been heard in the United States in the opera houses of Long Beach, Kansas City, Charlotte, Tampa, Florida Grand, Glimmerglass and Hawaii Opera Theater, amongst others.
