In addition to maintaining her busy private voice studio in Worcester and her position as Associate Director of Music and Director of Chapel Choirs at Assumption College, Jane Shivick continues to perform in recitals and concerts throughout Massachusetts and beyond. The soprano began the 2015-2016 season in a “Schubertiad” concert in Tuckerman Hall. In December, as is her custom, she  join the Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra in Mechanics Hall for the traditional “Holiday Pops.” She will appear in May as soprano soloist in a performance of Brahms’ "Ein Deutches Requiem" with the Brockton Symphony, the Jubilate Chorale, and the Bridgewater State University Chorale, and then perform in recital at the Shrewsbury Congregational Church in June. Last season Jane took part in “Dueling Divas” concerts in Milton and in St. Petersburg, Florida, and joined the Massachusetts Symphony for its gala Independence Day Celebration and Holiday Pops and a "Classics to Broadway” concert; she was also a Visiting Guest Artist at Wheaton College, Norton (MA).

 

Jane studied at Assumption College in her native Worcester, and transferred to the Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford in Connecticut. She furthered her vocal and operatic studies at the Aspen Opera Theater Center covering the role of Donna Anna in Don Giovanni. On the opera stage, Jane performed the title role in Ariadne auf Naxos with dell'Arte Opera Ensemble in New York and the role of La Donna in the world premiere of Enrico Garzilli’s Michelangelo with Opera Providence, and has also performed with the Aspen Opera Theater Center, Cape Cod Opera, and Watershed Opera in Seattle.

 

In concert, Jane has performed with the Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra for eight years, taken part in "Holiday Pops” and in concerts with the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra at Symphony Hall. She has been a featured soloist with the New Philharmonia Orchestra (Brahms “Requiem”); Rhode Island Civic Chorale & Orchestra (Handel’s “Judas Maccabeus,” Schubert’s “Mass in A-flat, and Mozart’s “Mass in C Minor”); Worcester Symphony and Symphony Pro Musica (Verdi “Requiem”), Stow Festival Chorus & Orchestra (Dvorak’s “Stabat Mater”); Spectrum Singers (“Messiah”); the New World Chorale (Beethoven Ninth), and many more.

 

After winning the National Auditions, Jane was awarded a debut performance and NPR broadcast with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra under the direction of Sir Charles Mackerras. She also garnered second prize in the Rhode Island Bel Canto Vocal Scholarship Competition and the Annamaria Saritelli-DiPanni Bel Canto Vocal Scholarship Competition, and received study grants from the Gerda Lissner International Vocal Foundation.
